The Cook County Circuit Court’s will make e-filing available through the eFileIL system (www.efileca.com) for the County Division in October, 2017. In November, the rest of the civil divisions will be added and Cook County will move to mandatory e-filing in compliance with Illinois Supreme Court Order M.R. 18368.
On May 30th, 2017 the Illinois Supreme Court entered Order M.R. 18368, which amends a previous order entered on January 2, 2016, and puts into place a mandate requires any court operating a stand alone e-filing system, as Cook County does, to migrate to the eFileIL system by July 1, 2018. The Order reads:
By no later than July 1,2018, all circuit courts with stand-alone e-Filing systems shall complete migration from their stand-alone e-Filing systems to eFileIL.
In the original Order, the Illinois Supreme Court set forth an e-filing mandate for Circuit Courts to take affect on January 1, 2018. The Order reads:
E-filing of civil cases shall be mandatory in Illinois Circuit Courts effective January 1, 2018.
Cook County has chosen not to wait until July of 2018 to migrate from their stand alone system and is working vigorously toward making e-filing in Cook County available through the eFileIL system well ahead of the mandatory e-filing date providing filers time to gain familiarity with the sytem.
